The Little Sleeping Beauty

So I was watching Nat Geo days ago about this well preserved mummy of a little girl. Little Rosalia was a child born in 1918 in Italy and died of Pneumonia on December 6, 1920. If you look at her picture, it’s like she’s just sleeping. With her yellow bow, she’s the kind of mummy that you would want to stare at for as long as you like. The embalmer, Alfredo Salafia, did an amazing job. His formula as to how this little girl remained intact was a mystery before. Until Dario Piombino-Mascali of the Institute for Mummies and the Iceman in Bolzano, has discovered the secret formula that preserved the little girl’s body all these years. He tracked down the descendant of the embalmer and surprisingly that woman has the secret formula all these years. The embalming was so perfect that an x-ray revealed that her major organs are still intact.

Salafia replaced the girl’s blood with a liquid made of formalin to kill bacteria, alcohol to dry the body, glycerin to keep her from overdrying, salicylic acid to kill fungi, and zinc salts to give her body rigidity. Accordingly, the formula’s composition is “one part glycerin, one part formalin saturated with both zinc sulfate and chloride, and one part of an alcohol solution saturated with salicylic acid.” — taken from wikipedia

Apparently, it’s the Zinc that did the “amazing” rigidity of Rosalia. Wow.

Oh how I love Nat Geo, Discovery, Animal Planet and History channel. They are just full of mystery, knowledge and science.

Epic Rap Battle: Gandalf vs Dumbledore!

I am so thankful for NicePeter’s Epic Rap Battles of History videos. I make sure that every night before I go to sleep, I watch his hilarious videos first. My favorite is the Gandalf vs Dumbledore video.

Clearly, at first I thought Gandalf will win the battle, but nooooo.. Dumbledore owned him big time! LOL. Well, maybe I’m a little bit biased because I love Harry Potter? Teehee. Dumbledore FTW!!!

Next Target: Enclave!

Book Trailer of Enclave by Ann Aguirre. I’m really curious about this book. It’s on my list of to-read but I’m currently re-reading Harry Potter books, so it’ll take me a week before I start to read Enclave. Yes, I’m a bookworm, I admit. ;)

My Harry Potter <3

New host! Yay :] Thanks to Nadine! Check out her hosting website.

Anyway, I just want to share my small collection of Harry Potter memorabilia. Just so you know, I got all these way back in 2001. Kept them in a special box. LOL. Yeah, I’m a big fan! And now, I’m planning to buy the Marauder’s Map, Hermione’s Time Turner and the Elder Wand if I can save enough moolah. But I will! Soon tho. Woooh.

McDo Delivery!

I really like the idea that McDonalds has put up an online delivery website. Not only it’s convenient to those who are just in the house or in the office. It’s also convenient to those who do not have landlines to call like me.

One thing tho, sometimes, when you have finally placed your order it will take them (customer service of mcdo) minutes before they call back for the order confirmation. Just earlier, it took them 45 minutes! I thought they didn’t get my order online and thought of calling them about it. Err. That’s the only downside. :]

And here’s my McDonalds Avatar. LOL

Loving Oatmeal

Now I know, some of you will not agree with me when I say Oatmeal is quite delicious if you want it to be. Well, maybe because you’re not doing anything to make it more interesting! I remember the 3 months that I spent just eating a bowl of oatmeal, cereal and fruits. It was part of my diet so I guess you can say that I love oatmeal. =D

Anyway, I’d like to share some good points on why we should make oatmeal a part of our daily food. I got this from Mr. Breakfast.

1. Oatmeal helps reduce cholesterol and heart risk.
2. Oatmeal can help you CONTROL YOUR WEIGHT — well well well, this is my favorite so far.
3. Oatmeal may reduce the risk for Type II Diabetes.
4. Oatmeal may reduce blood pressure.
5. Oatmeal contains a wide array of vitamins and minerals.

for more and explanations, just click the link above.

Okay, an ordinary oatmeal can be a too bland, thus many children despises oatmeal. No worries, because you can make your oatmeal exciting and delicious in no time. All you have to do is just add whatever fruits you have there, some maple syrup, granola, chopped nuts, cinnamon and sugar. =]
